Cold turkey
I had expected non-Twitter to be a bigger disruption than it was. This was because I hadn’t considered that my main reason for going off of it was not having time for it. Yes, I have habit-style put “t” into my keyboard, only to remember I am not doing that now. I have had thoughts that formulated in my head as tweets only to remember… right. As a mindfulness (?) practice, whenever this happens I ask myself: who’s the intended audience? Who do I want to be telling this to? If the answer is a specific person I will tell that person. Mostly I find that there is no imagined recipient, but rather these are simply… my thoughts, and could be left at that. Or can they? Reports, then, from the much-healthier irl world:
-Fed and changed a baby; wrangled a toddler.
-Did SO many dishes, despite not being the spouse doing most of the dishes, because we really do make that many dishes these days.
-Walked around Dundas West with baby in carrier, relearned that a used skirt is $345, bought pastry and coffee, got back on the streetcar and went back home.
-Started what I thought was the new season of “Shetland” only to learn that there’s an even newer one also on Britbox. Reruns after all!
-Took Anti-Judaism: The Western Tradition out at the library. It seems profound and brilliant from the page or two I read while wrangling. Will my lifestyle accommodate reaching the third page? TBD.
-Fell asleep to the “Midsomer Murders” with Steve Pemberton as a cuckolded rabbit enthusiast. Fell asleep to the “Midsomer Murders” with the actor who plays Alistair on “As Time Goes By” as a poor man’s Savile Row tailor.
-Made pizza, with shortcuts but homemade. (And I’m wondering where these dishes are coming from.)
-Replied more promptly to emails? But I suppose less so to DMs.
-Organized (am trying to organize) a joint outdoor birthday party for small children.
