Above, my best work. Below, a shop review, the first in a possible series.
The dream of the middle-class 1990s lives on at a store in Toronto, on Bay and Cumberland, just north of Bloor, called Legs Beautiful. It has a website, technically, but don’t let that fool you. It is an irl situation. If not for the masks, you would be time-travelling to a simpler era. Pre-Covid, pre-9/11. Not prewar but it’s not a costume shop is it.
What is Legs Beautiful? A sock store. Socks and underwear. But practical underwear. Cotton and Canadian. But also sexy stockings (because socks?), with a wide selection of garter belts.
There are French socks and South Korean. I got the latter, because I needed a certain style/shape, not cashmere. There’s French hosiery. There are novelty socks but that is not the point.
You enter and it smells strongly of garlic. If this puts you off then you are not worthy of Legs Beautiful.
