In the interests of being more reasonable in all ways, I decided to set a rule for myself of one new clothing/accessory sort of thing per month. If that sounds like a ton to you, if that’s more than you buy for yourself, then congratulations, we all have our vices, I bet you have some that I don’t!
This month’s item, the one launching this new (not new-new, I have done this before) way of life: the Eileen Fisher fully-linen jumpsuit I saw on—I know, I know, I’m getting to it—Poshmark and couldn’t stop thinking about.
I can’t explain it but this was clearly it. The garment I would reach for every day, and that’s a color where if I don’t change out of it before cooking/playground, it’s not a disaster. The material was correct, the neckline, everything. But it seemed too expensive for something used and unreturnable, from the internet, that might be terrible. But after the Poshmark haggle (listed prices are not prices-prices and nearly always inflated in anticipation of that back-and-forth), I got it to the reasonable-for-this range.
The seller listed measurements, and I had dutifully made note of the indicated waist size. It was marked as a smaller dress size than I’d normally wear, but I figured in something like this, with a looseness to it, it might be fine, maybe even preferable. And width-wise, it is. Leg-length, also considered, also correct. Gorgeous material. As-described.
What I hadn’t considered, because I was born yesterday and forgot the issue with clothing one has not seen in person, was that there’s another issue I hadn’t thought of but should have been obvious to me from the photo:
