It took a few simple tweaks, or maybe the passage of time. But with the baby in her own room, I can do such things as go into my bedroom at night and lie on one side then switch to the other while falling asleep without fear of waking her up. And with the children in daycare and school, both of which go to a reasonable hour at the end of the day, I have returned to the world of people who can sometimes, without tremendous planning, leave the house. And not even always with a stroller and an assortment of snacks.
Working, which I was already doing, but am now doing even more of (!!!!), has become a whole new level of feasible. So has, like, showering at night, where I’m no longer constantly thinking of which clothes I will need after so as not to wake a sleeping baby.
It’s all so boring, so clichéd. And yet, so important.
