“Are You Being Served?” showcases the magic of good tailoring. In this scene Mr. Humphries, Mr. Lucas, and Mr. Grainger join forces in bespoking a man some pants that clearly fit him better than anything off the rack.

The dieworkwear account, which is apparently a whole thing, explains that quality is in the details. A $1,500 pair of bespoke trousers are advisable because they’re better than pants costing a normal amount for pants. Which, maybe they are! I would hope they are, because emperor, new clothes, and all that.

My own collection o’pantalons is in the $20-100 range (CAD) and is entirely possible that if someone took a picture of my rear end, they’d find the fit less than precise. Which is, roughly, what’s going on with the GOP politician whose biggest offense is clearly wearing ill-fitting pants.
