It started with muscle aches and the feeling but frustratingly not confirmation of fever. Then it became unmistakable, with chills and everything. No I have not sent a sample of whichever bodily fluid to the lab to have this confirmed but it seems the likeliest. How did this happen??
A parent of a kid in my kid’s kindergarten class had flu recently.
A higher power was concerned it had been a few days between illnesses in my household and that I had been spared the norovirus that preceded this.
I tried a bunch of lip tints, balms, and so forth on my hand at a Sephora. While I used their Purell and a tissue to remove this, it was extremely pre-2020 behavior on my part.
I had a coffee with a friend at a place.
I’ve been so-so on indoor masking, religiously wearing one on transit but definitely not doing so while shovelling ramen into my mouth with my husband and evidently ramen-loving baby at, yes, a place.
I have on occasion left the house.
I eat food off the plates of my small children, both of whom are in school/daycare, the way parents have done since time immemorial, and don’t even bother doing so through a hole cut in an N95.
I got a flu shot. Much like getting four Covid shots was extremely useful in making me the only member of my household to get a second (at least) Covid, the flu vaccine seems to be in cahoots with the people who fly Canadian flags from pickup trucks.
I’m on me holiday.
Widower for nearly five years, went to a busy place for coffee with a friend, a busy cafe for lunch and a pool to swim twice. Never saw of hear anybody cough or sneeze or cough. Home bound by severe winter storm. No hint of COVID or flu. Feeling lucky.
