Just commenting as a straight dude from Australia to say: just finished the book, loved it, going to go ahead and re-read it straight away. It's rich with ideas and so fun to read. I hope it makes a big splash, lots of people need to get the message.

I am reading the book right now and really enjoying it! Have been posting prize excerpts on Instagram, so hopefully that will encourage others to read too.

Thank you!! And I'm glad you appreciated the Macron-Trudeau passage.

Checked out at TPL. How excellent to be recognized! I may now finally sign up for Britbox.

As a librarian, I can say that those are pretty good hold numbers. OK, not the latest Murderbot novel numbers, but better than most. I'm looking forward to getting hold of a copy to read (library ordering service, not the fastest).

Thank you for this! I made the mistake of clicking to see what Belle Burden's hold numbers were, but mine are not nothing.

They are FAR from nothing! :)

Great stuff. Having published a couple of novels (and written several films), I know the feeling. It took me a while to understand that, not unlike cocaine, no amount of sales, public affirmation or stellar reviews would ever be enough. And the elevator comes down really f***ing fast. And then where am I? Back to holding a yellow legal pad and a #2 Ticonderoga pencil and doing what I’m supposed to do.

Good luck. I’ve ordered the book

I just saw it! Real there-are-dozens-of-us feelings when reading it!

Yeah, big fan of you, but the whole Britcom thing… don’t get it, never got it, and don’t think I’m alone in wishing you’d just stick with the social criticism.

I appreciate fandom how could I not but find this odd because there are countless people on this platform and elsewhere opining on these topics minus the Britcoms. This however is a blog called "Close-reading the reruns."
