Dire blogging times
This is a plea for anyone who has encountered the UK tax threshold issue (one person subscribes from the UK and you get a prompt saying you need to register as a business working in the UK, even if you are making $5 from this). If I cannot figure this out soon I will likely leave Substack. Help!
There are reciprocal tax treaties between the US and UK AIUI - when I (in the UK) get money from Medium, an American company, it isn’t taxed by Medium and the IRS because I have a form saying I don’t need to pay it. Unfortunately this had to be notarised.
I’m sure there is similar for the US or Canadian resident - you might have to do some searching about. Medium should have something about this, or Substack *should*.
